Following a successful career in traditional public and financial communications in the private sector, Jeanne Kelly Bernish followed her passion and joined an operating non-profit engaged in education reform as its first digital expert. Building an external digital presence from the ground up, Bernish positioned the organization as a national thought leader and delivered a 285% annual growth rate for digital audiences and first page organic search results for newly established subsidiaries and product lines.
Bernish quickly learned that many of the existing tools and analytic packages just couldn’t measure non-traditional outcomes like thought leadership: new measures and benchmarks were required. Legacy platforms were bolted on – often abandoned after initial launch and rarely integrated with other owned or earned channels. What was most effective was an integrated approach focused on authentic engagement that would lift visibility in the digital space. In 2014 Bernish began her second consulting career focused on building integrated communications strategies and, in 2015, Heather Hill Media Company was created to formally launch the work.
